Abstract: As a living cultural heritage with multiple value connotations, the protection and development of traditional villages as a hot topic has been widely concerned by all walks of life. This paper systematically combs the related research progress and hot spots of traditional villages protection and development from various aspects, summarizes and analyzes the research results through research review methods, and makes the following finding: The research trend of traditional village protection and development is rapid progress. Reasonable classification has important guiding value for classified protection. The combination of theory and practice is an important research mode of planning research. Activation the research of strategy is more specific and detailed. The research on the protection and development of traditional villages in the future can be promoted from the following four aspects: improving the research content system of traditional villages, broadening the research scale of traditional villages, expanding the research field of traditional villages, and paying attention to the interdisciplinary and interactive application of multi-disciplinary and new methods.
